Has anyone here ever traveled the Australia East Coast in January / February?

Hey guys,We left about two weeks ago and now Sydney started hochzureisen the east coast, at the moment we are in Byron Bay. We thought at first there would be no better time to go up to Cairns, because it's summer but now we are worried because of the wet season. Has anyone here ever traveled the East Coast in January / February? We realize that we can not guarantee on weather .. We are just a little pressed for time because my girlfriend in April flying home from Australia. What would you advise us? :)

So we are since Jan. 2 with car and tent on the way and are now in Whitsundays. Although it has often been raining, but really it has not rained. So we have actually prevented from nothing. Oh yes ... our Whit Sundays tour was very stormy, but still very ***ny

You can travel up the coast to Cairns, just always hear already on Cyclone Warnings and Alerts Rain .. and do not risk anything with flooded roads can sometimes be that roads are closed. As at the moment to Agnes Water / Town of 1770
